It's been four weeks, already??. Time flies when you are having fun :). This week, Kristin of Twinkle Twinkle teased us with another ice-cream color/flavor; Strawberry Lemonade Punch!.
I was inspired by these photos;
Art journal pages I made for this week's inspiration:
I played woith crumpled papers, water-soluble crayons, purple & yellow artist acrylic ink and stamps. I did some collage with fabric tapes & chipboard flourishes and doodling with black india ink. Sprinkled a few drops of purple artist acrylic ink on the yellow pages while spritzing with some water (my strawberry is a little bit purplish here). I let the wet ink dripped across the pages by turning the journal upside down and left to right to create the 'cable wires'.
I spotted pigeons sitting on cable wire when I took a leisure walkabout downtown earlier this year (see the first photo). I had hoped to use images of birds in my journal one day. I was glad I did it.
So, look around. Spot the little things. They are gifts from nature. Till then, happy journaling!.
Hugs,
Shahrul
How pretty these pages are, love the crumbled up paper. Great job on those stamps, I want those!! You are going to inspire me to try making my own, looks so fun!!
ReplyDeleteThe birds on a wire are so sweet, it's great you finally did them. You inspire me with the way you use everyday things you see and include them in your journal.
Thanks so much for sharing!!
Oh, the cumpled papers are so fun, you'll love the heavy texture!. It's cool to notice little things and add them in my journals. They teach me a thing or two, but mostly the make me smile. Hugs.
DeleteGreat journal pages & the colours are perfect for the Summer of colour!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages! Wow..wondering where u live since those buildings are so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We have old buildings (colonial era) that preserves their beautiful architecture, one of the reasons why I sometimes play tourist, always have a camera handy :).
DeleteBeautiful work - it's great seeing the detail in the close-up photos.

Love your page. The colors, the texture, and those sweet little birds!! Perfect! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the stamps you made - just plain erasers eh? Cool BJ#4
ReplyDeleteYup, plain rubber erasers :).
DeleteI love the work on stamps. I think it takes great perseverance to carve these from the eraser and they are perfectly done to me. I love the birds on a wire and how you have included that in your page. The birds are so cute on your page. And next, I'm gonna run to the store and get myself the India ink..lol! Just love the jet black ink..
ReplyDeleteYou know what, the tile actually fits perfectly to these birds. Like those migration birds and how far they fly from one place to another for breeding grounds...and that's the reward... Kan?
Hey you! I can't do intricate designs with the erasers stamps yet, just straight ones :). Birds on wire fits well with rewarding journey, you are right. Black india ink is perfect for writing on journals, or if you like colored inks, try artist acrylic inks :). Good luck.
Deletexo!
ReplyDeleteI love your pages.... love the hand carved stamps:)
ReplyDeletebtw thank you so much for your sweet comment.... your 'neighbourhood' looks beautiful.... the colourful houses are so elegant.

ReplyDeleteFab, Shahrul! Loving your own personal stamps. I am in Italy right now and seeing so many strong bold patterns. Your designs would fit here perfectly.
ReplyDeletePretty pages! There's a nest of baby birds above the back door at my day job that I've been watching very closely to see when they take flight.
