' Barely There ' Doodle Book

Hello friends,
I have just completed my second November's DT project for Scrappingville. It's a clear acrylic album called 'Barely There' Doodle Book. I enjoyed making transparent things lately and this clear mini album is just another fun book to make.

the front.

the back.

I made this album thinking about my favorite things to do in the winter months. Things that warmed my heart. Memories of winter pasts. I used magazine clippings [Mollie Makes, Country Homes, Country Living, Martha Stewart Living & Take Ten] to tell the story :).

Not only I doodled with wild abandon on these clear pages, I made my own screen prints too :). Simply stamped a transparency with acrylic paint using either foam or clear stamps. Be sure to use paint sparingly for crisp images.

I worked from back page to the front so I could see the pages build-up as I go along. And then I randomly doodled around the photos with black sharpie.

Sharing a few pages in my book;
"My day starts after COFFEE, anything else can wait".

'The Sound of Music' is my all-time favorite movie. I could sing-along to my heart's content. Here, I stamped DO, RE, ME ... following the song :).

I remembered having ONLY Sara Lee's strawberry French cheesecake [yes, the whole thing] for dinner one cold night. All for myself :). YUMM!.

We roller blade in the summer and ice skate in wintertime. Indoor, of course. Invigorating!. Did I tell you, I scrapped both my knees when I first tried rollerblading?. Silly girl. Walked like an Egyptian that whole month :).

It's too early for snow season but hey, it's never too early to make those gifts. Wish you have a great Thanksgiving this week!. Scrumptious food :).

I'll be teaching the doodle book this month & in December. Come play with us @ Scrappingville. Do check our class schedule for details. Hugs.

Supplies:
7 Gypsies Tabulated Clear Album; Hambly Studios screen prints: Portrait Gallery, Frame Windows; Collection Elements diamond pins & ; Pattern papers from Echo Park Everyday Eclectic: Kraft Doily & Music Notes; Follow Your Heart by Rhonna Farrer 'Honey Blue'. Momoyo ribbons. Twines, thule and buttons are from stash.

  1. Very unique. I haven't seen a clear album before. And haven't rollerbladed since I was about 12. :) I went ice skating with friends about 6 years ago and fall flat on my butt. Ha! Have a great day. Tammy

  2. LOL..you are a riot! I love your clear album so much. The inventive techniques you use are so wonderful. I am listening to Christmas music on the radio currently and it worked perfectly while reading your post. I'm with you on the COFFEE!! Secondly, "walked like an Egyptian"...LOL..that had me on the floor!
Absolutely loved the insight to you life and how gloriously you've displayed yourself here. ;)

    1. Thank you so much, Chandra!. The clear pages are from 7 Gypsies (7 Gypsies Clear Tabulated Album), these are part of my Scrappingville's DT kit. I believe you could get them online too :). The clear pages are bound with two 1" rings, but for my project I discarded them and use two extra large 2" rings instead (from local stationary supplies store).

Great job on your screen prints, they are gorgeous!!
I've never ice skated before and haven't roller skated in years, I'd be too afraid to fall. Having my cup of hot tea each morning is a MUST for me. Wish I could see this book and hold it, really love it!!

I've been collecting some coffee cups & sleeves, thinking about making a coffee-mini album next :). Thank you for enjoying my album, they are sure fun to make. Try doodling on anything clear :).

  9. Oh how cool!!!! How very clever you are… Kaisercraft made clear albums once but they just didn't sell very well … I bet if they had you on their DT doing things like this the story would have ended differently!! LOL Fabulous as always Shahrul xox]

    1. I didn't realized Kaisercraft had it once :). You are so sweet :). I must tell you this album made me think really hard on how to arrange things, LOL. Doodling takes away some seriousness, and its all fun, fun.
