30 Sketches - Malaysian birds

Sweet friends,
I had a cold and sore throat yesterday. Still don't feel right but better :). I've been away a while, so I thought of a quick post today. Sharing with you my sketches for the last week or so. This is a continuing project, inspired by my friend Dawn. You could read about how the challenge starts here, and my previous sketches here :).

I drew from photos of Malaysian birds I saw online. But of course, I added some whimsy touches to them :).

Have a great day. Hugs.

  2. Nine amazing depictions of the aviary kind! These are so wonderful Shahrul. The colors are incredibly vibrant and the wing and feather patterns so detailed. I love the flycatcher and the hornbill. How wonderful to be able to see these birds in nature!

    1. Hi, Jane!. Wow, that must be fun!. Yup, The Langton watercolor paper (300gms) from Daler-Rowney. First I sketch (lightly) in 2B pencil and then add watercolor. I use Georgian pan watercolor set (I forgot the brand, but it looks much like the one in Beatrix Potter's movie, LOL). It gives that smoky tones that I love. Oh, check out my rural Italian village sketches in pencil, the cemetery angels and Beatrix Potter animals drawings that I posted earlier this year. Hope you'll have a nice time :).
