polka dot buttons what-not caddy

Hi all,
I can't help myself to make a little polka dot cuteness when I saw THIS on City Crafter Challenge Blog yesterday.

Here is what I made for the challenge;

inspiration : polka dot

Recycled materials used to build this project are including wooden boxes (from a RM$5 store), paper bag handles (Starbucks), hinges (ACE Hardware) and vintage ceramic feet (flea market).

I sponged a thin layer of gesso on the wooden boxes and later distressed with Antique Brown Stazon. I stamped aqua acrylic paint with a wooden bead to make the polka dots.

I simply attached two small wooden boxes with glass-frame lids, added handles and little ceramic feet at the bottom to make some sort of box bag. I'm calling it my buttons what-not caddy :).

the side view.

With the clasps, my caddy looks like a suitcase. Loving the glass-frame lids!. Lightly sponged thin gesso on the edge to create frosted window look.

Kelly Rae Roberts' "How Cute is That: Put Feet On it ..." post make me looking for some cute wee feet at the flea market with joy. She shared photos of her mother's many fabulous DIY home decor projects with various shapes of vintage feet on them. They look fabulous!. So this is my chance to put feet on my caddy project :). Are they fun or what?. Lucky to have found them gorgeous feet.

There you have it, a fun quirky buttons caddy. I think it may look good as a gift box too :).

    1. Hi Duaa!. You know what, this will make a nice art class project. Try make a simple version of it, you can even use just one box with a lid, and stapled the handle from paper bags. Then you can paint the outside beautifully to your heart's content :). Hugs.
