old buildings of Kuala Lumpur

Hello friends,
I walked to old town this afternoon, got me a new sketchbook. This is my regular place to go for a light lunch or just sit around at the cafe, sketching. Or just admiring the crafts on sale for tourists and locals alike :). In the future, I'll share the view inside Central Market building and its colorful handy crafts. Oh, the best time to take photos in town is in the mornings. Do mind my amateur photography here :).

#1: Old buildings of the heritage row along the main Central Market building. I think I might like to sketch them sometime.

#2: A backpacker guest house.
#3: A camera shop.

#4: A shop above a Chinese herbal restaurant.
#5: KL tower building looked 'sandwiched' between old buildings from this spot. The KL Tower is not unlike the Seattle Tower, it has a revolving restaurant on the lower deck and a viewing upper deck. It is also a telecommunication tower. You would enjoy beautiful KL city lights seen from dining up there.

#6: A narrow street of old downtown.

#7: Pigeons up on the ledge.
#8: A flower shop with these beauties all year.
They have roses, carnations, lilies among others.

#9: A dried-seafood shop just next door to that flower shop :). Nice floral fragrance + pungent salty smell = chaos?.
#10 : An old Chinese ceramic shop. I love to come here just to admire the intricate & colorful oriental design on their teapots & plates.

#11: Shady lane on my way home. Just 10 minutes away now.

I hope you enjoyed the short walk in this part of old town. I have yet to share with you the greater Kuala Lumpur city. And its many parks. Someday :).

  4. This looks like such a beautiful, beautiful place to live. I absolutely LOVE the colors and architecture of the olde buildings. I could see myself looking out the balcony of that guest house, walking along with a sprig of fresh flowers in hand, and perusing that fabulous looking ceramic shop. Thank you for one of the lovliest dream walks ever!
PS: I just heard on TV that you'll soon be having a visit by Prince William and Kate-keep your camera in hand :)
