Sweet friends,

I apologized for being away so long :). I've been busy with a couple of assignments and I'm ready to share them with you any days now. I have got some urban sketching (on locations) done almost everyday in the last week or so. Such joy. Can't wait to share this too. I must say, I had a good tan with all the sunny mornings out!. Although, we still have rain storm every afternoon and I'm slowly withering, LOL. 

I've been meaning to bring you to visit another cool spot in KL. [Believe it or not, I am re-discovering my own city!]. Come check out KL City Gallery. Surprisingly, it is the newest tourist attraction here but the building was built in 1899.

This colonial building is located next to the Merdeka Square [I LOVE laying down on the big open field there & sketch!]. I sketched a lot here too, there are so many beautiful buildings to sketch :). The red brick tower with black dome is the Kuala Lumpur Library.

I love the time-capsule idea to display the history of our city.

This is a model of one of historic mosque in town.

It reminds me of Taj Mahal. In reality the mosque has red-earth brick walls facade with white Moorish minarets.

This was Kuala Lumpur in 1884!. I have no words. Still in awe.

And this is Kuala Lumpur now. One day, I'll bring you touring PETRONAS Twin Tower :).

I love the doodles on the black walls. 

Cool industrial chic light bulbs too. Look like stars.

In this model, you can see the City Gallery on the far right, just opposite of the giant flagpole. That is Merdeka Square, where I normally rest after a long walk in town. I sketch a lot here too, sitting on the grass :). In the background you could see the etherial-like buildings, these are future development nearby.

' Barely There ' Doodle Book

Hello friends,

I have just completed my second November's DT project for Scrappingville. It's a clear acrylic album called 'Barely There' Doodle Book. I enjoyed making transparent things lately and this clear mini album is just another fun book to make.

I made this album thinking about my favorite things to do in the winter months. Things that warmed my heart. Memories of winter pasts. I used magazine clippings [Mollie Makes, Country Homes, Country Living, Martha Stewart Living & Take Ten] to tell the story :).

Not only I doodled with wild abandon on these clear pages, I made my own screen prints too :). Simply stamped a transparency with acrylic paint using either foam or clear stamps. Be sure to use paint sparingly for crisp images.

I worked from back page to the front so I could see the pages build-up as I go along. And then I randomly doodled around the photos with black sharpie.

'The Sound of Music' is my all-time favorite movie. I could sing-along to my heart's content. Here, I stamped DO, RE, ME ... following the song :).

I remembered having ONLY Sara Lee's strawberry French cheesecake [yes, the whole thing] for dinner one cold night. All for myself :). YUMM!.

We roller blade in the summer and ice skate in wintertime. Indoor, of course. Invigorating!. Did I tell you, I scrapped both my knees when I first tried rollerblading?. Silly girl. Walked like an Egyptian that whole month :).

It's too early for snow season but hey, it's never too early to make those gifts. Wish you have a great Thanksgiving this week!. Scrumptious food :).

advice from a tree

Sweet friends,

I came across this beautiful poem, 'Advice From A Tree' by Ilan Shamir on Pinterest. You could read about how the poem came to Ilan here. I missed my nature walks. I wish for sunny afternoons very soon.

Here's a page I made to remind me of this gem;

I used up paper scraps and foam stickers in this spread. Masking tapes for background, smudged with green water-soluble crayon. I sketched the tree with a brown sharpie and then stamped on the foreground.

I feel like making a few of this poem in different mediums. We'll  see. Have a good one!. Hugs.

'Funky Ladies' mixed-media dress form

Dear friends,

I'm finally able to post my November DT project for Scrappingville. I feel so much better now, and that is great for creating more art!. I'll share with you the second DT project soon. I love, love seeing vintage dress forms online. Though, never saw one at the flea markets here :(. What took me so long to make one, I wonder. So here it is, my first try at embellishing dress forms. A lot of fun, I tell ya!.

Special thing about the dress form book is that, each piece represents all of us, Women Who Create :). Who inspires others to do the same. Of course, I LOVE to add some quirkiness to their dresses :).

First, I prepped my ladies with some molding paste on their heads, shoulders and the 'feet' for dimension. [Mimicking the 'real' vintage dress forms]. Left to dry for a day or two. Then I painted with acrylic, decoupaged tissue papers and stamped with ink on their dresses. I adhered pattern papers for a couple of them. I chose warm, earthy, soft colors for my girls.

If you like, you could add little pockets or photo frames on them. I had mine embellished with metal beads, copper wires, metal charms, paper roses, ribbons & laces.

I think the dress form chipboards are great for making BFF's mini albums, Mother's Day little tags or Proms brag books!. Just add your fav. photos :). The chipboard takes acrylic paint and mediums very well, I LOVE them.

Dear ones,

I found a great quote on Pinterest and I thought I would share the wisdom from Mother Theresa :).

Background from kite paper and decoupaged tissue paper. I decided not to use any paint today but just easy-doodling with wax crayon. CAS art journal pages :).

 

Faded flowers from tissue paper give a 'lush garden' feel to my pages without making them too crowded.
