I love old books, always on the look out for them whenever I go flea marketing. Not much of a reader, but I simply admire books for their beauty. The shabbier, the better.
I especially love the crimson ones.
In the beginning, I looked only for Jane Austen's.
I think this is sweet!.
Later, I looked for details on the covers.
This week's, Wendy is the host at Our Beautiful World :).
And she has sweetly chose the prompt;
'Details'
I thought I'd share some close ups of my old books. [Quietly wishing I had a fancy lens to play with :)].
Unique engravings intrigue me to no end.
So as intricate insignia, crests and medallions.
Torn, but much loved.
Recently, I collect books with colorful covers.
Such as this, almost fairy tale-ish.
Often I used words from these old books in my art.
Strange it may be, but I could read a dictionary for hours!. Looking for sweet phrases & words, of course :).

I took these pictures with Pentax K200, and I used Raynox DCR-150 macro lense. All photos were edited with PhotoScape [can you imagine I do not know how to use Photoshop???. Silly girl].
Do you love experimenting with your lens too?. Come share with us some of your 'Details' shots at Our Beautiful World this week :). Have a great weekend. And enjoy the full moon tonight!. HUGS.

Great shots, I enjoy browsing your photos! These books are surely precious! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful ... Wonderful photos and you don't need any fancy lens at all ... the beauty is all there just as you have shown ...
ReplyDeleteI too love old books and you have discovered some real treasures here-great shots!
ReplyDeleteI think your hobby of collecting old books is fascinating. You got great detail shots.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love old books... Why hadn't I thought of it, I have several beauties to share too. May be for a later post then :)
Don't know about your camera, but it takes awesome macro shots! And you know, I've only been using photoshop for not even a year and use it so much now. Start with learning about the layers and then just go have fun and play. Photoshop elements is a lot cheaper by the way and has most of the features of the real thing too.
Anyway, hugs to you :)
I love old books, too! Your post really captured them beautifully! I am so happy that I found your blog and am able to share in your joy and happiness! I can see how you can look a a dictionary for hours looking for the perfect phrase and words! Thanks for sharing this with all of us, Shahrul!
ReplyDeleteI agree, those old books are lovely. Thank you for visiting my blog (Totally Infatuated...)
ReplyDeleteI love old books too. But I actually read them before I alter them...more value for money...lol!
ReplyDeleteYou scored some great ones!
I love these pictures, how lovely they are, perfect for this weeks theme!! I love old books too. Sadly, I'm not into photoshop either, my pictures never get edited/brushed/filtered just point and shoot and from the heart. Not sure I will ever change that about my pictures and your pictures came out beautifully!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing these with us! Glad you could enjoy my garden walk, thankfully the garden looks ok from all the rain. I would have been sad to loose my pumpkins. Take care, hugs!
I don't know how to use Photoshop either even though Photoshop Elements came pre-installed on my computer - i must learn. However I do love the pictures you take, they tell such a story and are so beautiful. I too pick up books purely for their covers. Yours are so gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteSuch great find and beautiful shots Shahrul, I love old books too, only I wish we could find those treasure here.
ReplyDeleteYou would laugh if I tell you this, I have PSE on my computer for nearly 2 years and only learn how to use it recently!
Re: the common name of the flower you were asking is Desert Paradise, I think the scientific name is Caesalpinia pulcherrima.
Thank you for such an incredible journey through your loved book details...I can totally understand, why they are so much loved!!! For a short moment I could even smell them a bit ;) ♥ Conny
