inspiration : botanicals

Dearest friends,

I have been enjoying sunny mornings and wet rainy afternoons. lately. [Yes, I do love rain :)]. While on my morning walks, I love looking at the little plants, a variety of them! I just hope that I could draw them one day :). For now, some botanical inspiration will suffice :). The spring has sprung in many places and lots of pretty things to be made too :). Enjoy!. HUGS.

ever tried stamping on tulle netting?

Sweet friends,
I think tulle nets are hard to work with, even to stitch on them. So, I tried stamping it with acrylic paint and India ink. These, making me so excited ;

Looks like cross-stitch :). Love.

This one was stamped with gesso and some green acrylic paint.

Honey-comb texture for dragon flies?. Cool.

Since this work so well, I decided to create something quick. Like ATCs!. Sheer ATCs. Although, needed to add linen & pattern papers as background, to make them less flimsy. You've guessed it, I took inspiration from my post before :).

And this adorable pattern paper from American Craft (Dream Catcher) sets the theme for my sheer ATCs.

I stacked a few pieces of tulle nets with linen fabric at the very back. This helps to give weight & structure to the sheer materials. Then fussy cut some paper jars and glued them down to the stacked fabrics. Over it, laid a piece of a stamped tulle net at the very top and then stitched around the jars. Lastly, added sheer lace & floral fabrics. 

Wonder if anyone has ever built a glass bird house?

The paper jar backing helps us to see the butterfly better.

I'm using many sweet colors to celebrate Springtime. I noticed the trees in park here are blooming like crazy too. Despite the hot weather :). Here's what I saw recently at the park;

I guess, the spirit of the spring season in northern latitude does bring love, hope and cheer to the whole world :). Warm HUGS to you who lives in the snowy region.

City Crafter Challenge Blog Week #101 - Copy Cater

Hi all. Happy Spring! Oh how I missed Springtime (... I live in the tropics now). I saw this gorgeous looking bird @ City Crafter Challenge Blog and I immediately thinking about Springtime. Inspired me to create something floral and sweet. The image fits perfectly as the main theme for another altered project (altering an old IKEA clock).

And so I made this;

I used an old, rusty clock that no longer works as the base of my project. I 'prep'ed the clock with black gesso, green & pink acrylic paints, decoupaged and stamped lace images. Then I started decorating the clock face with bird, flowers and mood-lifting words :).

I also stamped & decoupaged a rose on one of the sides. Stamped on the back as well, even on the bells :)). Metal flowers for additional 3D decorative accents. I'm so happy to see the bird sitting comfortably on the flower bed. Seemed like he's singing, " It's time to love, twirl & dance".


I had fun making this one. It really brought back great memories. First days of Spring in Colorado, when apple trees blooming pink & white blossoms. Clear blue sky. Cool breeze. BLISS.
